Catholic Schools Week at SJMS
You may have noticed posters around the school this week. Students made them to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. We highlighted themes of community, faith, knowledge and service.
Many classes have been reading and discussing stories related to these important characteristics of Catholic Montessori education. Some classes made cards for Ronald McDonald House families, the charity which the SJMS Family Association is supporting with service projects this year. In Art class, the primary students talked about spiritual bouquets. In Religion class, we talked about the varieties of "flowers" in God's garden, and how each type contributes to the overall beauty. Several classes made learning chains, symbolizing all the growth that happens in our community. Children wrote "I know statements" celebrating their learning goals, and linked them together to form an enormous paper chain. Children experienced the real benefits of service when middle school students visited Children's House, to read with and to the younger students.
We are grateful for the opportunities to grow and learn together at SJMS!
